Site updates
Hi all,

I pushed an update to the site. There are some changes and new stuff:

1. New moderation pages for board staff
- Recent posts page and post history
- Logs page with usernames and hashes

2. Changed url paths to from /img to /file. /img was a remnant of when the site only supported image uploads. There was a few things that broke and I already fixed:
- Dice rolls in posts and faq page
- Default banner image
- Some customcss url() paths

3. Improved my backup workflow so I can backup everything to 2 places and restore in 1 command. I will take more frequent backups and the site data should be more safe incase of some disaster.

Also there was an issue with the caching server for US west coast, but no downtime since there is some failover. The issue is now resolved.

As usual, if anything doesn't work or got broken, post in >>>/t/186 I have been busy working from home despite coronavirus lockdown so sorry for the slowed updates. But hey, now I can afford to run the site :^)

Stay healthy,

Blockbypass change
Blockbypass no longer opens a new tab (if you have js enabled) and it sends your post automatically once you submit a correct captcha.
You might need to clear cache in your browser to see the change (usually ctrl+f5 or ctrl+shift+r).
Hopefully this improves usability a bit, enjoy.
NY Network Maintenance
Got an email from my server host saying there will be around 5 minutes of outage in their New York datacenter on Friday, March 6th, at 11PM PST (GMT -7) while they upgrade their network. will have downtime for some regions/users during the timeframe because part of the infra is hosted in NY.
"Latest News" added to homepage
You're probably reading it. :^)
Hi all,

Finished updating the site with some more mod features and enabled block bypasses (sorry for the brief downtime of posting). Also have a few more tricks up my sleeve to fight the spam as dolphin/rodent makes his usual rounds.

Scheduled maintenance done.
Scheduled maintenance ~9:30 UTC
Going to do some maintenance on the site tonight hopefully in a good timezone that less people are on. Need to renew HTTPS certificate and update some software on the servers. Probably be a few hours.
Webring shitshow
Today some retard weasled their way into the webring and impersonated various sites with links to an IP logger.
Seems to be over now, but was a wild ride.
Interesting morning,

Somebody DDoSing the site. Started off with a layer 4 attack on the reverse proxies (initially thought was some networking issue with the host), site stayed online for EU and most of USA. Then they spammed /tech/. I removed the spam, fixed a bug in the flood check, and enabled captcha trigger on tech not sure why i disabled that in the first place... oops. I will tune haproxy to help with some http attacks if things get worse. Hopefully the spike in PPH didnt annoy anybody in the webring.
Whoever is attacking the site seems to be testing out webring sites, dont think its anything against me personally. Probably the same person who ddosed recently.

Anyway, have a good day yall

As I mentioned in >>>/t/186, there was some downtime in the last ~24 hours because my old host decided to shut down on very short notice, along with many others:
>More than 20 VPS companies closing on Monday – are they connected?
>20 VPS providers to shut down on Monday, giving customers two days to save their data
>No explanation given for the sudden shutdown. Customers suspect an exit scam.
A bunch of shell companies owned by presumably the same group of people offered long term plans with discounts for black friday/cyber monday, then disappear shortly after. I had been with one of the provider for over 11 months so i was lucky not to be a recent customer. The email they sent to many people:
Dear Customer,

Over the past few months we have been met with many challenges within the hosting business. Some that have not been overcome.

As result of this we will be closing our doors. We will be shutting down this Monday 12/9/2019. We are taking this time to let our customers know so that they may backup and retrieve all of their data before then.

We deeply apologize for this inconvenience. With that said, I moved to a different, more reputable host who has been in business for many years and got the site up and running again. I am still in the process of setting up additional infrastructure so please be patient incase there is more downtime. I will take this place more seriously from now on and try not to put the site in jeopardy over saving a few dollars.

Webring Welcome
We recently joined the webring, a collection/federation of imageboards. It helps users discover more imageboards and provides contingency incase an imageboard goes down or gets deplatformed.

Pay the kind users at some of the known boards a visit:
